Al Gore Takes "Green" Message to Saturday Night Live

Al Gore took his message to Saturday Night Live for NBC's "Green Week," joking that he had a "backup plan" and zinging the network for the patronizing opportunity to let him appear once a year — "like Punxsutawny Phil."

The topical sketch show continues its run of live episodes as Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes his SNL hosting debut. The actor is hot off a nuanced, acclaimed performance in the film (500) Days of Summer as well as his movie directorial debut with his short film Sparks, which he wrote and produced and for which he scored the music. Speaking of music, it'll be "too much" when the alt-rocking jam collective Dave Matthews Band hits the music stage.

Monologue
This was really the only Mad Men gag of the night. Jones monologue was almost immediately interrupted by a group of obsessed fans, which Jones referred to as "Mad Mennies." They even ended up on stage to sing the show's theme songs with their original lyrics.
