When Jamie is photographing some kids and accidentally gets a shot of a man jumping off a roof that a newspaper pays him a hundred dollars for, he begins monitoring the police radio frequencies in search of murders and suicides, but he doesn't find very much business. Kevin hears Sarah telling Cherie about an extremely romantic date she had, and, since it wasn't with him (he and Sarah met at a party where they immediately had sex on a bed piled with coats), he's determined to show Sarah his romantic side. He enlists Cherie's help in planning a romantic dinner on the roof for Sarah, and Cherie even agrees to cook the meal. Cherie's boyfriend breaks up with her, and a devastated Cherie tells Kevin that she can't possibly keep her promise to cook dinner, but Kevin insists, and Sarah is impressed with what she thinks Kevin has done for her. But Cherie has a few drinks, shows up on the roof and busts Kevin, revealing to Sarah that he made her do all the work when she was feeling miserable.

Jamie starts going out with Shawna Barnes, a player on a local women's basketball semi-pro team, and learns the joys of 'big girl sex.' He also loves the free beer and getting to sit in the 'husbands' box' when he goes to the games. But Shawna fears that her lack of aggressiveness on the court is about to cost her her job, so Jamie tutors her so well on the art of aggression that she gets a job offer from the WNBA in New York and moves on without him.

In what starts as a miscommunication, Jamie tells Cherie that his mother has died and convinces her to go out on a 'date' to help him scatter her ashes. Kevin confronts Sarah about his suspicions, and she angrily says that she'll buy the new bed for her apartment because it's over between them. As they're about to scatter the ashes, Cherie finds a chicken wing in the urn and tells Jamie he's the most disgusting person she's ever met. When Sarah brings movers to take away the bed, Kevin is reluctant to give it up; they have a discussion using the bed as a metaphor for their relationship and come to the conclusion that they belong together.

At the hospital, Dr. Sweeney comes on to Sarah and tells her that she should be nice to him since she's his favorite candidate for the soon-to-be-filled supervisor's position, but she reports him to the hospital administrator for sexual harassment. She and the administrator devise a plan to trap Dr. Sweeney, but just as Sweeney is about to make a compromising suggestion with the administrator listening, Kevin, who's at the hospital spying on Sarah, bursts into the room and ruins everything.
