Wyatt Markum, a bond trader, is murdered under the watch of Jimmy Doyle, JRM bodyguard and an old friend of Harlan's. Jimmy, a recovering alcoholic, relapsed the night of the murder and does not remember anything. The investigation is complicated by LAPD detective Ryan Giggs, who believes that Jimmy killed Wyatt. Smits finds traces of cocaine and another person's thumbprint on Jimmy's gun. Meg learns that Wyatt's wife, Corrina, was fearful of her husband's anger. Chris, Nora and Leslie urge Harlan to terminate Jimmy, but Harlan stands firm. Meanwhile, Jeff's mother, Dee Dee (PATTI D'ARBANVILLE - "New York Undercover"), has been scammed and asks her son for help in catching the con artist. After trying unsuccessfully to trace the fraud's phone number, Jeff and Trish ultimately foil the con artist and retrieve Dee Dee's money.

The firm is in serious financial trouble, and Harlan must begin firing employees. When three Van Gogh paintings are stolen from an exhibit, Harlan makes a deal with insurance adjustor Vanessa Leary (REBECCA McFARLAND) to recover the paintings for a fee. Harlan meets FBI Agent Matthew Hale (RICHARD BURGI), while Nora and Trish figure out how the paintings were stolen. Hale places an ad in the paper offering $5,000,000 for information relating to the return of the paintings. But when a man named Xavier Young (JON SKLAROFF) calls the hotline and arranges an exchange, the FBI arrests him, leading to the destruction of one of the paintings. In the end, the other two works of art are recovered, and Xavier is arrested.Meanwhile, Marwan Al-Rashid (PHILLIP RHYS) asks JRM to find his missing fiance, Sameera Fayyadh (ATOSSA LEONI). Meg and Chris are assigned to the case and learn of a surprising connection between the Al-Rashids and the Fayyadhs. When the investigators visit the Fayyadhs' restaurant, they suspect Sameer

With only three days to prepare for the trial, Harlan and Leslie take on the case of Magar Zakarian, a businessman accused of killing his partner, Ron Tourneau. The day before the murder, several witnesses saw Zakarian having a bloody fist fight with the victim. The prosecution's key witness to the shooting is the victim's wife, who says that although she didn't see Zakarian's face, she recognized his car. Zakarian's cocaine-abusing employee Bobby was his alibi until he, too, turns up dead. Ultimately, Zakarian is acquitted of Tourneau's murder, but Harlan seeks justice for Bobby's death and informs the IRS about Zakarian's shady dealings and tax fraud. Meanwhile, Nora, who's been giving Clay Burgess information about JRM, confronts Burgess after his thugs maim her brother. And Jeff resolves a case for a woman who mistakenly believes her husband is having an extramarital affair.
