The USSR was not about to be outdone by Warren Beatty's depiction of the life of writer John Reed, REDS, hence the making of MEXICO IN FLAMES. This is the first in a three-part film epic covering the journalist's life, but it falls far short of Beatty's film. Nero is Reed and Andress is his rich patron and lover.
