Genevieve and dozens of other veteran cars set off for Brighton. Wendy is a resigned and none too willing passenger who considers the whole affair childish. Claverhouse is accompanied by his latest girlfriend Rosalind. For the McKims, the journey to the coast is one of progressive disaster. They fail to finish in the appointed time, and when they arrive in Brighton, find they have no accommodation. In contrast Ambrose and Rosalind have made the trip in fine style. Claverhouse makes one of his characteristic digs at Genevieve.
