Vampire Diaries Episode Recap: "162 Candles"

Halloween may be over but the witches and vamps of Mystic Falls didn't get the message. If the All Hallows' Eve-themed "Haunted" tied the bow on a lot of dangling ribbons, then "162 Candles" started wrapping a whole new present. Taking full advantage of their chance to stop and a take a breath, the writers introduced us to an old — make that really old — friend of the Salvatore brothers while giving screen time to characters we haven't seen much of lately.

So, what happened?

TGS is looking to add a star to its roster and Liz is in charge of finding said star. She's narrowed it down to her final pick but she needs to make the decision look like Jack's green light call. Ergo, she brings in a slew of horribly untalented "talents." (We even get a flashback to Liz's early career auditions — hysterical!) Her goal is to rig the audition and force Jack into "choosing" her dream talent.

The Trickster traps Sam and Dean in a TV land where there are "300 channels and nothing on." The brothers find themselves in a world of medical dramas, bad sitcoms, procedurals, those embarrassing STD commercials and those wild Japanese game shows. Castiel is back and the Trickster makes a big revelation.

In Thursday's episode of Grey's Anatomy, Arizona's moral compass is tested when she's faced with an ethical dilemma regarding a patient whose parents offer truck loads of money to the hospital. Meanwhile, relationships are also tested at Seattle Grace as two doctors you wouldn't expect share a kiss while a different Mercy Wester sets her sites on Alex Karev.

Kicking off the episode, Derek, Arizona and Callie get pages in the middle of the night to head to the hospital. It's a busy night at Seattle Grace as the three take on a slew of cases. Let's take a look...

Welcome back Fringe-philes (that nickname still needs work). After a baseball enforced hiatus, we finally got back to wonderfully weird world of Fringe. This episode's freak-of-the-week had one of the cooler nefarious powers we've seen on the show, the ability to turn people into dust, while Broyles desire to solve the case reveals a little bit more about him — and gets him into some hot water.

The latest FlashForward episode "The Gift" starts out innocently enough as we see a woman picking up her two young boys from school. However, as the woman approaches her car, she finds a flyer on her windshield advertising projectghosts.com with a note on the back saying "You are one of us."

Before any of this can be explained, we cut back to Mark, Demetri and Al headed back to the morgue to follow up on the three blue-handed dead bodies they found at the end of the last episode. The three people seem to have absolutely nothing in common, except for the fact that the all three killed themselves and had no flash forwards. Also, one of three dead people is Ian Rutherford, who Al remembers investigating in his own flash forward.

America's Next Top Model Episode Recap: "Dive Deeper"

The models were shipped to Hawaii last week when their house was condemned by Tyra. Brittany was sent home, making her stay in paradise ridiculously short lived, and her future as ANTM caput. Who will be cut this week when the competition is narrowed down to four girls? Read on to find out.

The episode starts off with the girls in their new Hawaiian home. Jennifer can't believe she's made it this far, and frankly, neither can I. In fact, if she wins this cycle, I may stop watching Top Model forever. Just sayin'.

This week, Biggest Loser took a trip to our nation's capital to help fellow Americans lead happier and healthier lives. The contestants meet Alison in front of the Jefferson Memorial, where she announces that the teams will be disbanded. It's time for singles.

Right away there's a pop challenge. Each person must hand out stickers and encourage people to show up at the Washington Monument for a group workout with Bob and Jillian. Amanda finds that she has a few fans who recognize her from last season's finale. They even chant her name. But unfortunately, the same group of gals also recognize Daniel and take his stickers instead of Amanda's.

V Episode Recap: "Pilot"

In the series premiere of V, it's finally happened. The Visitors have arrived. Now, I have to be honest with you, I was a fan of the original V television series when it aired back in 1984. It may have been my yearning for a "Star Wars" type of show (Return of the Jedi was released in 1983) or because quite frankly there just wasn't anything else on at the time for a young lad like myself to enjoy. Who knows? I guess the point I'm trying to make is that I've had extremely high expectations for this "re-imagining" since it was first announced. With that being said...the show started out with a bang! Well a rumble anyway. The Visitors came with a trusted and true message: We come in peace. But by the end, it's quite clear...peace is not what they came for.

In this week's Two and a Half Men, Alan gives Chelsea some advice and Charlie gives Alan the old heave-ho.

Alan shows off some of his chiropractic knowledge when Chelsea complains of back pain. When a little bit of adjusting and some suggestions don't help, Alan suggests that she consider getting a breast reduction. Apparently, Charlie can sense when the words "boobies" and "reduction" are used in the same sentence because he wakes from a dead sleep and realizes that "something's wrong!"

One Tree Hill Episode Recap: "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight"

After last week's revealing episode, we were treated to a much more light-hearted hour this time around. The boys went camping, the girls had a trip of their own, and Clay finally was able to begin the process of letting go of his dead wife.

The boys — Nathan, Mouth, Skills, Jamie and his friend Chuck — are going camping, but Julian is a tad bit hesitant as he's not a guy's guy. "I don't have homies," he tries to explain to Brooke. But with his lame camping references and his extreme over-packing, Julian is ready to join the others on the outdoor adventure. After some zip-lining and scary stories, the little ones go to bed. The rest debate the best sports movie of all time, and while Nathan says an obvious Field of Dreams, Mouth comes out with Coach Carter — a reference to the film that Tree Hill writer/producer Mark Schwahn wrote. Julian, who had all the funny lines this episode, contributed his pick of Cool Runnings, followed by him singing the famous, "Jamaica, we have a bobsled team," from the movie. The conversation quickly turns R-rated when Skills reveals that Nathan and Brooke made a sex tape in high school. Julian, rightfully pissed and inquisitive, finally shuts up when Nathan tells him, "I lost my virginity to my sister-in-law, you don't think that makes Thanksgiving a little awkward from time to time?"

Gossip Girl Episode Recap: "The Grandfather, Part II"

It was election night on Gossip Girl, but that meant so much more than a possible Vanderbilt victory party at Chuck's hotel. Olivia hurt Dan's pride, Blair unknowingly befriended a prostitute and Nate got involved with some dirty politics.

The Jimmy Fallon Appearance
With so many intense plots going on in this episode, Dan and Olivia had a comic-relief story line. Olivia appeared on Jimmy Fallon's talk show without coaching from a publicist for the first time, and she was a little too open. She told a story about her first date with Dan and him coming back from the bathroom with his shirt on inside out. This led to Dan getting the embarrassing nickname "Bathroom Boy." However, Dan had no idea why people were calling him this because Olivia desperately tried to keep Dan from seeing the interview. The girl even spent five hours playing board games with Rufus, Lily and a sick Jenny, but in the end, Dan stumbled onto the interview online.

Kennedy. Creator Matthew Weiner put the drama of the event front and center, but still managed to show the changes happening in the lives of those sitting transfixed on their couches, those unable to look away from the situation that kept going from bad to worse. Betty finally realizes that her feelings for Don no longer exist. Pete, after being less than graciously not promoted, convinces himself, then Trudy, that leaving Sterling Cooper might be his only move. And Roger Sterling, unable to crack wise about Kennedy's death like he does everything else, realizes only one person can make him feel better after his daughter's train wreck of a wedding ends.

But how exactly do we cope with tragedy? Do we, like Don, talk it away by focusing on the hope for a brighter tomorrow? Or do we react like Betty by immersing ourselves in it and allow it to break us down? Could we be like Pete and misplace our anger at those around us? Or do we take Roger's approach of just being baffled by it, knowing that with persistence we'll pull through? All of those initial reactions, however, give way to reflection, which gives way to honesty. And it's in those moments of honesty that the realizations listed above are made, for better or worse.

You've got to wonder, what really changes in a town like Mystic Falls when Halloween rolls around? I mean, we've already got vampires and witches. Other creatures, demons and warlocks are bound to follow. 'Halloween' owns the town and only a few humans admit it. I suppose the holiday gives the townspeople a chance to let their freak flag fly. You know, subconsciously admit there's something unsettling about their settlement.

In the beginning of this week's FlashForward, we see the elusive and mysterious Simon on a train to Los Angeles. He sees a hot girl by the bar and you know what line he uses? "I know what caused the flash forwards." (Aow aow, I wonder how many times he's used that since Oct. 6).We learn Simon is supposedly a quantum physicist genius. Soon Simon is spurting his theory of what caused the flash forward, something about a teeny, tiny cat and a poisonous sardine all the while during Simon's come-on, we see Janice being rushed through the ER for her gun shot wound to the abdomen.
