A man moves his two daughters to Italy after their mother dies in a car accident, in order to revitalize their lives. Joe believes that he needs a new start for his 16-year-old daughter Kelly (Willa Holland) and her younger sister Mary (Perla Haney-Jardine) after the death of their mother (Hope Davis) in a car crash. With the help of family friend Barbara (Catherine Keener), they start to settle in. Mary takes up piano lessons while Kelly hangs out with her new boyfriend. But Mary is racked with guilt about the car accident and is suffering from terrible nightmares. She's also started to see a person she thinks is her mother, apparently alive and walking around the city. Directed by Michael Winterbottom (A Mighty Heart), Genova is a poignant tale of love and forgiveness.
