Thackeray?s most famous female character returns to the screen in a raucous, new version of his portrait of an England on the brink of bankruptcy and war. The story charts Becky?s journey from the elegant salons of Georgian London to the battlefields of Waterloo, from her ill-fated attempts to woo her best friend Amelia Sedley?s brother, Jos, to her equally doomed marriage to the caddish aristocrat Rawdon Crawley. Her progress is inextricably linked to that of the less worldly Amelia. Can Amelia trust her feelings for the dashing yet vain George Osborne. Will she remain blind to the devotion of Osborne?s most trusted ally, the dependable Captain Dobbin? Can she, like the unsinkable Becky, survive the catastrophic events unfolding in England and abroad?&lt;/p&gt;</description>
