Paul Adelstein, Amy Brenneman, Tim Daly, Taye Diggs, Merrin Dungey and Chris Lowell make guest appearances.

Dr. Brown's neighbor and friend Nina (recurring guest star STEPHANIE NIZNIK) is ostracized by the townspeople when they discover that she is a surrogate mother for a woman in her mid-50s. Dr. Brown's clumsy attempt to come to Nina's defense only makes the situation worse, but she turns to Dr. Brown and Ephram for help when the baby makes an unexpectedly early arrival. Meanwhile, in order to gain the approval of her friends, Amy cancels her party invitation to Ephram. And Delia tries to befriend the school bully, Magilla (BRET LOEHR).

Although conflicted by his feelings for Amy, Ephram finds himself serving as confidante and friend to Amy's formerly comatose boyfriend, Colin, who continues to struggle to reclaim his life. Meanwhile, Dr. Brown hopes to convince Ephram to resume the piano lessons he abandoned after his mother's death. Nina (recurring guest star STEPHANIE NIZNIK), Dr. Brown's friend, is excited by a visit from her absentee husband, Carl Feeney (DYLAN WALSH - "The Lone Ranger" 2003 telefilm), but old tensions return as well. And in a bittersweet moment, Amy and Colin are nominated for homecoming king and queen.
