Manuel must reach the town of San Martin where he'll be given a map by the 11-year-old Paco (Marietto Angeletti) who hopes that Manuel will avenge his father's death by killing Vinolas. Manuel hears that his mother has died, but makes the arduous journey nonetheless, only to be betrayed by an informer who tells Vinolas of Manuel's plans. Reaching San Martin, Manuel has the opportunity to kill either the informer or Vinolas. Whom will he choose?

Skuldar (Max Grodenchik), a gnome-like man, chases the beautiful Melinda (Michelle Rene Thomas) through a forest. Just as he knocks her unconscious, the vortex opens and Quinn (Jerry O Connell) smashes into him. When Skuldar hears that Quinn s last name is Mallory, he turns into a hawk and flies away. Skuldar reports to Gareth (Gregory Martin), a powerful Druid. Thinking there were no Mallorys left, Gareth supposes Quinn must be a wizard. Quinn is smitten with Melinda, and the Sliders take Melinda to the police, who say she is Gareth s apprentice. Melinda panics when she discovers the officers are returning her to Gareth s estate. One of the officers thinks she sees a dragon at Gareth s estate, and is troubled by Gareth s harsh attitude toward Melinda. The officer slips into the Gareth s dungeon and finds Philip Mallory (Sean Moynihan), in suspended animation, and Melinda, tied to an altar.
