The trailer for The Beautiful Person which will be available on IFC Festival Direct starting on October 28th. Junie (Lea Seydoux) is a beautiful 16 year-old girl who arrives at a new school after the death of her mother. Introduced by her cousin to a band of his close friends, Junie finds herself the subject of constant attention as the colorful group of boys woo her in turn. Eventually she strikes up a close relationship with Otto (Gregoire Leprince-Ringuet), the most gently-mannered of the bunch. Otto seems to genuinely care for Junie, but she soon falls in love with Mr. Nemours (Louis Garrel), her Italian teacher. Nemours is a charmer with a serious penchant for his students, driven crazy by Junie's mysterious nature. A fresh adaptation of the classic novel La Princesse de Clevese by Mademoiselle de Chartres, THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE is director Christophe Honore's free and modern interpretation of the classic story of young love.

While his carefree sibling and doting father try in vain to cheer him up, a visit from his aloof mother seems to be the only thing that brings him joy. Left in the house to talk to his brother s girlfriend and brood, he begins to realize that while things haven t gone according to plan, one can always find something to live for.

Ma m re takes place in the Canary Islands, where the film's family shares a home. The mother H l ne (Isabelle Huppert), cool and in charge, and her teenaged son Pierre (Louis Garrel), a pious Catholic back from boarding school, discuss his father's infidelity; the next they hear, he is dead in a car crash. H l ne launches into a wild series of parties, gradually involving her son in her drugging, drinking and sex-fuelled nights out. When she mysteriously goes away, her son is left in the care of her mistress R a (Joana Preiss) and Hansi (Emma de Caunes), an icy blonde sadist with whom he falls in love. As the film evolves, we realize that this is a period of initiation for the young man until his mother can return and fully bring him to sexual maturity and adulthood.

Though Love Songs (aka Les Chansons d'Amour) is not a film operetta per se, director Christophe Honor and composer/lyricist/vocalist Alex Beaupain use that film to pay homage to the French movie musical as conceived by Jacques Demy in his classic Les Parapluies de Cherbourg (1967). The Honor film concerns a series of hopelessly romantic Parisian characters who are unable to convey their feelings to one another in everyday situations, and who thus use musical numbers as outlets -- as vehicles of emotional expression. Beaupain composed the score; a number of the songs that are included appeared on one of his solo albums. The individual stories covered in the film tell age-worn tales as old as time: the loss of love, the discovery of new love, the impossibility of mutual love. Feeling depressed, he opts to move into a flat with his brother Jonathan (Garrel, who also narrates) and their father (Marchand). The ladykiller Jonathan slyly attempts to talk Paul into a shopping trip to lift his spirits, but ends up venturing out alone and engages in rendezvous with several women. Meanwhile, the boys' stylishly-dressed and gorgeous mother (Pisier) turns up and adds one more complexity to the network of relationships in the house. When their Bohemian parents (Robin Renucci and Anna Chancellor) leave for the summer, the twins invite Matthew to live with them. While the revolution rages on outside, the three young people stay in the comfortable flat playing decadent sexual games. Bertolucci incorporates clips from classic films like Queen Christina, Band of Outsiders, and Breathless.
