The passengers fought back, and the plane crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania -- far from its intended target in Washington. NBC's Jane Pauley sat down with many of the victims' loved ones for an extraordinary first-hand account of what happened, based on their phone conversations with those on board.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

On September 11, 2001, United Flight 93 took off from Newark, bound for San Francisco. It never got there. It was one of four planes hijacked by terrorists that day. The passengers fought back, and the plane crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania -- far from its intended target in Washington.
