Well, we kinda knew Monk couldn't go too long without an analyst, right? So, tragic as is the April 8 death of Stanley Kamel — aka the neurotic's Dr. Kroger — a USA Network spokesperson confirms to me exclusively that Hector Elizondo has been tapped to join Monk as Tony Shalhoub's new shrink. There's no word on how his character will be introduced, but he'll first turn up in the show's seventh season premiere on July 18.On a related note, Elizondo's hiring would seem to signal that CBS' Cane is a goner. So what's your take, peeps? Will you have a harder time adjusting to seeing Monk on someone else's couch than he'll have being on someone else's couch? CBS announced today its 2007-2008 Fall Prime-time lineup, featuring five new series: one comedy, three dramas and one reality program. Last week, I was glad to discover that I was not alone in my "thumbs down" feelings about George and Izzie hooking up. Seemed like no matter whom I spoke to about it, and as evidenced by the majority of the comments here, the overall reaction was "ick!" So I was happy to see the word "mistake" included in the title of this week's episode. I got my wish that George wasn't going to remember any of it. Initially. Great "Ohmygod, I left my baby on the bus!" moment tonight when the hungover George suddenly, amid his new father-in-law's prenup offer, flashed to his night of passion with Izzie. They should have played Celine Dion's "It’s All Coming Back to Me" as George dashed out.Since just about all of us can agree that George and Izzie's canoodling was indeed a faux pas, are you with me that the best scene tonight was the two of them inside the linen closet at the hospital? On the heels of the announcement that Taye Diggs will guest-star on a special two-hour episode of Grey's Anatomy airing later this season and likely serving as the launching pad for a spin-off fronted by Kate Walsh's Addison, here is news that Hector Elizondo is also paying a visit to the hit ABC drama. An Emmy winner during his run as a Chicago Hope doc (and a big reason why Edward ended up with Vivian), Elizondo will play Callie's father.
