The time is 1984. The place is Paris. A young, handsome man (Johan Lib reau) arrives and strikes up a platonic relationship with a wealthy doctor, Adrien (Michel Blanc), who exposes him to Sarah (Emmanuelle Beart) and Mehdi (Sami Bouajila), a young couple who have just had their first child. An unplanned love affair at the onset of a new, unnamed epidemic upsets the tranquility of their lives. The four friends are confronted with the end of the sexual revolution; each facing new possibilities.

Based on one of the biggest disasters of the century, Vinyan follows Paul (Rufus Sewell) and Jeanne Belhmer (Emmanuelle B art) who like many other parents of their time journey to Thailand in search of their son, lost during the Tsunami of 2004. Glimpsing a boy who looks like Joshua in video footage from a village of orphaned children on the Thai-Burmese border, Jeanne becomes convinced that her son was kidnapped by traffickers. Unwilling to shatter his wife s last hope, Paul remains skeptical as she throws their money at a sinister smuggler who promises to take them by boat into pirate-infested waters to find their son. As they continue their quest through the dark jungle, the traumatized couple is pulled into a primeval hell created by their own obsessions and mutual desperation for some sense of closure.

Ethan Hunt (Cruise) is an agent who serves as a point man on a squad of intelligence operatives known as IMF, which is headed by Jim Phelps (Jon Voight). The movie begins with the team assembling for a mission in Prague to stop a traitor from stealing the Non-official cover (NOC) list?a comprehensive list of all IMF agents in Eastern Europe which includes their call signs and their real names. The mission goes inexplicably wrong, apparently resulting in the assassinations of nearly the entire team, including Phelps, leaving Hunt the sole survivor.
