Acey (Sarah Paulson) is a beautiful teen imprisoned in a brutal existence, virtually invisible to her alcoholic adopted dad, abandoned by her adoptive mom, and plagued by a creepy, mystical condition in which she levitates off her bed while she is sleeping, only to wake and plummet back to the mattress and her dreary life. Acey sets out to find her real mother. On her journey she encounters downbeat (Ernie Hudson) a blues radio disc jockey and a luminous young man named Bob (Jeremy London), who seems to watch over Acey wherever she goes and with whom she falls in love with. She succeeds in finding her biological mom (Ann Magnuson) in a bitter confrontation at the same time as she discovers the world behind her magical abilities.

Andrew Horn (co-writer/producer of East Side Story) directs the documentary The Nomi Song, a portrait of late German artist Klaus Nomi. Born in Bavaria during the '40s, Nomi was a trained opera singer who became an underground cult figure in New York City during the '70s. Fancifully dressed in black-and-white costumes, Nomi performed unique cabaret shows and earned a small but loyal fan base. He made recordings, appeared in films, and even sang for commercials. He was building up a career in Europe when he fell ill. He died in 1983 of an AIDS-related infection. The documentary includes interviews with actress Ann Magnuson, art director Page Wood, and photographer Anthony Scibelli. Produced by Kevin Spacey, The United States of Leland is a psychological drama concerning the aftereffects of a brutal murder. It's also the first big-studio theatrical release for writer/director Matthew Ryan Hoge, whose previous work consists of the independent comedy Self Storage. Ryan Gosling plays Leland, an imprisoned teenager doing time for the stabbing murder of a disabled boy. Prison writing teacher Pearl Madison (Don Cheadle) gets caught up in the story with the intention of making a book out of it, especially when he finds out that Leland's father is the famous novelist Albert Fitzgerald (Spacey). Pearl's investigation uncovers some of the details and effects of the murder for everyone involved, including the victim's parents, Harry (Martin Donovan) and Karen Pollard (Ann Magnuson).
