Set in 1984 in Sandusky, Ohio, this popular comedy follows the coming-out of a naive 17-year old teenager at exactly the moment when gender-bending pop stars like Boy George of Culture Club and Annie Lennox of Eurythmics were flaunting androgynous images. As the youth goes through his first rites of gay passage, after being callously used by the slightly older boy who brings him out, he tries to retreat to heterosexuality with his closest female friend. He emerges as a poignant gay everyman.

Forced to give up his dreams of art school, Zach spends his days working a dead-end job and helping his needy sister care for her son. In his free time he surfs, draws and hangs out with his best friend, Gabe, who lives on the wealthy side of town. When Gabe's older brother, Shaun, returns home, he is drawn to Zach's selflessness and talent. Zach falls in love with Shaun while struggling to reconcile his own desires with the needs of his family.

Is the office temp psychic or crazy? Ben Shenkman ("Angels in America," "Pi") plays a corporate executive who is shaken out of his humdrum existence and forced to ponder his fate when an enigmatic temp (Tina Holmes - "Six Feet Under," "Half Nelson") enters his life. She requests a private meeting in his office and announces a recurring premonition that his upcoming tropical vacation will end in bloody carnage. A playful relationship develops between them as he gently but firmly resists her persistent efforts to persuade him to cancel his trip. But will his refusal to heed her urgent advice drive her over the edge?
